Media Relations Lead - San Francisco Area

Local stories turn global overnight and regional representation for businesses has become extremely important.  My client, which is a huge global consulting firm, understands this and is looking for a top notch communications pro to make sure that the company's stories are broadly and intelligently represented in the western region -- the most important media sector for the technology industry. This role includes executive positioning programs for all the firm's regional leaders, and working to support campaign and message development around important broad marketing initiatives.  You will collaborate with national, industry, business and global media relations colleagues across the company to leverage content for relevant stores and will complement the media relations programs with social media to amplify awareness and visibility.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Create regional media strategy, including identifying key market and regional themes and providing input to the West region marketing strategy
  • Coach and prepare spokespeople
  • Establish executive positioning platforms for regional business leads
  • Drive media release pipeline for market or region-relevant research studies and surveys corporate citizenship activities, inclusion & diversity initiatives, people on the move stories and civic and community oriented stories
  • Create and execute effective social media campaigns
  • Monitor the competitive landscape for media mentions and share of voice, applying this knowledge to improve the firm's overall positioning
  • Conduct and analyze market/competitor/influencer research as input to positioning and external marketing and communications plans
  • Drive the application process for locally important awards and rankings.
  • Drive efficient programs with PR agency in the region and different markets

  • Global perspective and understanding of business marketplace; quick thinking with an inquisitive nature and desire to learn about economic and business drives, the technology ecosystem 
  • Able to partner with and influence executives at all levels 
  • Executive level presence
  • Ability to provide strategic support and counsel.  Issues management a plus
  • Ability to manage multitple tasks under tight deadlines
